Which places are warm and dry in July?
Twenty-one of the places we track pass our test in July: an average daytime high of at least 24°C and rain on no more than one day in ten, about three rain days in the month, over eleven years of daily weather. It is the longest list of the northern summer, and much of the top of it is hot.

Read the high column before the rain column. Seville, Dubai, Madrid, Antalya, Athens and Rome are all dry, and all well into the thirties on average, which means afternoons of heat that the monthly average hides. Our June list is the same story a month earlier and a few degrees cooler.

Lisbon is the best all-round July city on our list: warm, nearly rain-free, and a place with good nomad infrastructure. Porto is cooler, and Málaga and Santorini are warmer without being punishing. The Canary Islands are the mildest option if you do not want to plan around the heat. Barcelona is just outside the list, with rain on about 4 of 31 days.
How hot is too hot in July?
Hot enough that you stop going out in the middle of the day. Our averages are daytime highs, so peak days will be higher.

Seville is the hottest main nomad city in Europe in July, and Dubai is a city you go out in after dark. Madrid, Athens and Antalya sit between them.
Is Bali dry in July?
Largely yes. July and August are the heart of Bali's dry season, and also its busiest months, when rents are at their highest.

Lombok makes the list above. Uluwatu just misses, Canggu has a few more showers, and inland Ubud still gets regular rain, more than in June. Our June guide shows how far the rain days fall from December, and our Bali by area guide compares the areas through the year.
Is Thailand worth it in July?
Not for dry weather. Chiang Mai is deep in the rainy season, and August is wetter still. Koh Samui is the lighter side of Thailand, with rain on about 8 of 31 days and 106 mm. Nomads who stay in Asia in July usually head to Bali and Lombok.
Which places in the Americas pass in July?
A few. San Diego and Los Angeles pass with almost no rain, and Cabarete in the Dominican Republic is just over our rain line. Austin is warm but has rain on about 6 of 31 days, and Vancouver is under our 24°C line, so they miss. Rio just misses on rain, the one southern place in the Americas close to the list, in its dry winter. Across the Atlantic, Cape Verde is among the driest on the list, and Paje on Zanzibar and Mauritius pass too, though on small islands the weather model behind our rain-day shares can miss part of the rain, and Mauritius' figures are for its drier west coast.
What would we pick for a month in July?
Warm, dry and comfortable: Lisbon, with Porto as the cooler second. The Canary Islands if you prefer a beach.
Hot but easy: Málaga or Valencia, with the sea nearby.
Dry-season Asia: Lombok, or Uluwatu if you accept a few showers and peak rents.
Skip unless you must: Seville, Madrid and Dubai at midday.

How we built this list
For each destination's coordinates we take eleven years of daily weather from the Open-Meteo archive and average it by calendar month. Monthly rain totals come from CHIRPS, a satellite and rain-gauge product; Canggu, Ubud and Paje keep Open-Meteo totals because CHIRPS reads too wet there against local gauges. A place makes the July list when its average high is 24°C or more and at most one day in ten is a rain day (two millimetres, or four in the tropics). Places are ordered by fewest rain days, then by the warmer high. The method says nothing about prices, crowds, visas, festivals or air quality; the data sources page has the details.
